Virginia’s 4 PM Burning Law applies from February 15 through April 30 — nothing before 4 p.m. within 300 feet of woodland, brushland or dry field, a Class 3 misdemeanor with a fine up to $500, and liability for suppression costs if it gets away from you. We could not load a Botetourt-specific burning ordinance to confirm local rules on top of that, and the county has issued temporary emergency burn bans in drought years. Botetourt does ask residents to notify the Emergency Communications Center at 540-473-8631 before burning; check current status before you count on it.

- Not to Troutville. That site is residential only and contractors are turned away, so anyone working on your yard is going to Cloverdale, which does accept commercial customers. That is our problem to solve, not yours — but it is the reason a crew's route here looks different from a homeowner's.
- Is Cloverdale or Daleville its own town with its own pickup?
- No. Cloverdale, Daleville and Blue Ridge are unincorporated, so county rules apply and there is no municipal collection behind them. Fincastle and Troutville are incorporated towns; whether either runs a separate service of its own is something we have not been able to confirm, so call the town office rather than assuming this page covers you.
